NEW YORK -- Independent animation distributor GKIDS is celebrating its double nomination in the Best Animated Feature category by bringing all eight of its Academy Award-nominated films back to Los Angeles beginning on Friday, February 12th.

A retrospective celebrating this year’s Academy Award nominations of Boy and the World and Studio Ghibli’s When Marnie Was There, the “GKIDS Animated 8” will play at the newly re-opened Laemmle Ahrya Fine Arts Theater in Beverly Hills. Tickets can be purchased at www.laemmle.com. The double nomination for GKIDS follows last year’s nominations of Song of the Sea and The Tale of the Princess Kaguya.

Since its founding in 2008, GKIDS has garnered an unrivaled eight Oscar nominations in the Best Animated Feature category -- by far the most for an independent distributor -- including: The Secret of Kells (2009), A Cat in Paris and Chico & Rita (2011), Ernest & Celestine (2013), Song of the Sea and The Tale of the Princess Kaguya (2014), and its most recent nominees Boy and the World and When Marnie Was There (2015). All films will be screened during the retrospective. Additionally, Boy and the World will re-open Los Angeles alongside this series at multiple locations, and continues to expand nationwide as part of its wider theatrical release.
