GLAS Grant Program Accepting Applications

Two grants of $2,500 each will be awarded to individual filmmakers in the United States making animated shorts outside of a commercial context.

The GLAS Animation Grant Program is now accepting applications.

For the first round of grants there will be two separate $2,500 grants to be awarded to two individual filmmakers to create independent animated short films.

As filmmakers, the organizers of GLAS felt that there is a vacuum of funding opportunities available in the United States to animators working outside of a commercial context, making bold, artistic work.

The grant was launched at the third edition of GLAS Animation Festival and the program is designed to fund independent animation filmmakers living and able to work in the United States who are making films outside of academic institutions.

Applications for the GLAS Animation Grant will be accepted between April 2 and June 31. Selections will be announced in October.

Criteria for the grants:

  • Filmmaker must be living and legally able to work in the United States.
  • Proposed project must be for an independent short film.
  • Pilots, web series, music videos, commissioned works, and features are not eligible for this grant.
  • Proposed projects must be able to be completed within 1 year.
  • Filmmaker may not be enrolled in an academic institution.
  • Filmmaker must have at least one completed film to show.
  • Filmmaker must be at least 18 years of age.
