‘GoT’ Prequel ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight’ Finds its Dunk and Egg

Peter Claffey to play the naïve but courageous Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk), while Dexter Sol Ansell takes the role of his young, diminutive squire Aegon V Targaryen (Egg) in Max’s ‘Game of Thrones’ spinoff series.

Dunk and Egg have arrived. The Game of Thrones prequel series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight has found its leads in Peter Claffey (Bad Sisters) as Ser Duncan and Dexter Sol Ansell (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes) as Egg.

The project, previously referred to as Tales of Dunk and Egg, chronicles a sequence of novellas set about 90 years before the events of Game of Thrones, and will follow the exploits of naïve but courageous Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk) and his young, diminutive squire Aegon V Targaryen (Egg). Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne, and visions of the last dragon have not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.

The Max series will be written and executive produced by Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin and Ira Parker. Ryan Condal, Vince Gerardis, Owen Harris, and Sarah Bradshaw will also executive produce. No word on who’s handling the VFX.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight will stream exclusively on Max.
