Toronto, Ontario – Astral’s Family Channel heads north of normal this summer with the Disney Channel original series Gravity Falls. Joining the summer lineup on Friday, July 6 at 4:30 p.m. ET/PT, the new animated comedy Gravity Falls follows 12-year-old twins, Dipper and Mabel, who are sent to spend the summer with their eccentric Grunkle Stan in a remote northwestern town where nothing is what it seems.
Dipper and Mabel Pines are in for an unexpected adventure after they inadvertently uncover a cryptic journal that offers insight into the strange and bizarre obscurities of Gravity Falls, Oregon. Trapped together in the small isolated town, the siblings quickly realize they need each other to battle the imminent mysteries lurking in Gravity Falls.
In the premiere episode, “The Legend of the GobbleWonker,” Dipper and Mabel hear rumours that a sea monster lives at the bottom of the local lake, and enlist Soos, an employee from The Mystery Shack who loves to be where the action is, to take them on a boating expedition to prove it really does exist. Following the premiere, Gravity Falls will continue to air in its regular timeslot on Fridays at 4:30 p.m. ET.
Created and executive-produced by Alex Hirsch (Fish Hooks, The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack), and inspired by his real life adventures with his twin sister, Gravity Falls features the voice talents of Jason Ritter (Parenthood) and Kristen Schaal (Toy Story 3, 30 Rock) in the lead roles. The cast also includes Linda Cardellini (Freaks and Geeks) as Wendy, Alex Hirsch as Grunkle Stan, and guest stars including Jennifer Coolidge (A Cinderella Story, Legally Blonde), Will Forte (Saturday Night Live), Alfred Molina (Spider-Man 2, The Da Vinci Code), ‘NSYNC’s Lance Bass, Grammy-winning rapper Coolio and infamous talk show host Larry King.
The adventures continue on Family.ca where visitors can play the “Mystery Shack” game available on June 29. Family OnDemand also offers new episodes of Gravity Falls as they become available weekly starting July 6.
