HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS - PART 2 broke the record for midnight screenings, writes The Hollywood Reporter. The film earned $43.5 million in one night. The final POTTER film took the crown from THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE, which took in $30 million at its witching hour debut.
When adding in pre-sold tickets, DEATHLY HALLOWS 2 has made more than $100 million already. Over the weekend the film will play in 4,300 theaters, 3,000 of those screens will be in 3-D. The film sold out the midnight 3-D screenings, which implies that the biggest of event films can still bring attendees to 3-D films.
