HBO Releases Trailer for ‘Tig Notaro: Drawn’ Animated Special

The celebrated comedian returns in a groundbreaking, first-ever fully animated stand-up show, produced by Six Point Harness, debuting July 24.

Comedian, writer, actor, and director, Tig Notaro (HBO’s Tig Notaro: Boyish Girl Interrupted), returns to HBO for the first-ever fully animated stand-up special, Tig Notaro: Drawn, debuting Saturday, July 24 on HBO and HBO Max.

The hour-long special blends Notaro’s voice and storytelling with a variety of artistic 2D animation styles that bring to life her recollections of a hospital bed proposal; a high school talent show gone awry; the repercussions of a dental procedure; unintentionally blowing off fellow comedian Jenny Slate; and a road trip with Dolly Parton.

Here’s a glimpse of what’s in store:

The animation is produced by Six Point Harness, whose credits include the Oscar-winning short Hair Love, as well as the animated series Lazor Wulf, Guava Island, and Waffles + Mochi.

The special is written by Notaro; directed by Greg Franklin; executive produced by Notaro, Franklin, Thomas Ouellette, Hunter Seidman, Ellen DeGeneres, Jeff Kleeman, and Brendan Burch; produced by Rachel Abarbanell; and produced for HBO by DeGeneres’ A Very Good Production and Notaro’s ZeroDollarsandZeroSense productions.
