Hong Kong Animation Studio Wins Television Awards

Hong Kong-based STVDIO Media Animation was awarded First Prize in both SuperPitch competitions at the Asia Television Forum and Asia Animation Conference, held in Singapore from December 2 5, 2002. Television producers from around Asia submitted original programming ideas to the pitching competitions. Out of 217 submissions, six were shortlisted for the general SuperPitch on December 2, and six for the Animation SuperPitch on December 5. Finalists were each given five minutes to pitch their ideas to a panel of international broadcasting executives and an audience of industry professionals. The general SuperPitch was open to all projects in any broadcast format, including live-action, documentary, drama and feature films. STVDIO Media Animation was given First Prize for ANIMATED ANIMALS, an animated comedy-documentary series about the courtship and mating habits of the animal kingdom. STVDIO Media Animation was also awarded First Prize in the Animation SuperPitch for DETECTIVE CAT. Detective Cat and her sidekick Watson the Mouse fight a never-ending battle against crime, evil and bad spelling in this 2D animated educational series. STVDIO Media Animation is currently at work on a new educational series for Walt Disney Television, an animated Bollywood spoof for Cartoon Network, as well as monthly Web animations for Yahoo and various commercial projects.
