VARIETY is reporting that Quentin Tarantino's WWII film INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS will compete at this year's Cannes Film Festival, May 13-24.
The Brad Pitt-starrer began its production only in October, but Tarantino always intended the film to debut on the French Riviera, and has reportedly accepted the festival's invitation. The film's backers, the Weinstein Co. and Universal Pictures, as well as the festival organizers, did not comment on the news. The full lineup is set to be announced on April 23.
Tarantino's PULP FICTION won Cannes' Palme d'Or in 1994, and he has been a favorite of the French ever since.
