Michael Moore Teams With Tom Tomorrow For Animated Feature

Controversial documentary filmmaker Michael Moore (ROGER AND ME, BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE) is getting animated. VARIETY reports that Moore's next project will be an animated feature, co-written with cartoonists/animators Tom Tomorrow (Dan Perkins) and Harold Moss. Tomorrow is well known for his comic strip "This Modern World," which appears regularly in approximately 150 papers across the country, and Moss is the founder and creative director of FlickerLab in New York. On his Website (www.thismodernworld.com), Tomorrow states that, contrary to what was reported in VARIETY, the film will not be based on Moore's best-selling novel STUPID WHITE MEN, but will certainly contain the politically subversive sensibilities of both Moore and Tomorrow's work. French production company Studio Canal will finance the film, and Moore is currently in negotiations to direct. The film will be produced by Pierre Edelman (exec. prod. MULHOLLAND DRIVE) through his first-look deal with Studio Canal. Tomorrow will be art directing the film and overseeing the design and animation.
