Netflix Drops ‘Cowboy Bebop’ First Look Images and Release Date

We’ve learned something very important this fine Monday morning: Netflix’s live-action Cowboy Bebop adaptation premieres globally on November 19. Doesn’t your coffee taste just a tad bit better now?

We first heard about the series back in November 2018, and have been curious, and anxious, to see what, and when, Netflix would start revealing their take on the beloved sci-fi neo-noir anime. We got a cast announcement a few months later and then… the pandemic hit, putting a halt to this and most every other production. Last September, filming resumed, finally wrapping this past March.

And today, we get a release date and some first look images!  

The series, based on the famed anime series, is billed as an action-packed space Western about three bounty hunters, aka “cowboys,” all trying to outrun the past. As different as they are deadly, Spike Spiegel, Jet Black, and Faye Valentine form a scrappy, snarky crew ready to hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals — for the right price. But they can only kick and quip their way out of so many scuffles before their pasts finally catch up with them.

Cowboy Bebop stars Daniella Pineda as Valentine, John Cho as Spike, Mustafa Shakir as Jet Black, Elena Satine as Julia, and Alex Hassell as Vicious. It is executive produced by André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg of Midnight Radio, Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements of Tomorrow Studios, Makoto Asanuma, Shin Sasaki and Masayuki Ozaki of Sunrise Inc., Tim Coddington, Tetsu Fujimura, Michael Katleman, Matthew Weinberg, and Christopher Yost. Nemec serves as showrunner.

Original anime series director Shinichirō Watanabe is a consultant on the series, and original composer Yoko Kanno composes on the live-action adaptation. The series also stars Alex Hassell and Elena Satine.
