Philippine Studio Marks Passage to New Home

pasi, Philippine animation studio inc., will be moving its production studio facilities on March 1, 2005, to a new home after 15 years at its current Makati, Manila location. The new facilities located in the upscale Legaspi Village, business district of Metro Makati, encompasses six floors with 3,709 square meters of production and office floor space. The building offers an upgraded technical infrastructure and floor to ceiling windows to give artists ample natural light.

The search for a new facility has been ongoing since 2002, spearheaded by studio manager Mimbi Eloriaga, coo Jun Camerino, exec producer Frank Saperstein and general services supervisor Lito Rillo. The management team has worked closely with ES Calma & Group, one of Manilas leading architectural firms, which provided the interior design, layout and build-out of the facilities.

Saperstein said, The location and presentation of the building lends itself perfectly to the corporate and creative image of pasi. Its central location allows easy access by public transportation for artists and staff lessening their commute times to allow for greater productivity. Its proximity to fist class hotels, restaurants and shopping make it extremely user friendly for visiting clients and partners.

The six-story layout permits each production unit to be housed on a separate floor, allowing management to more efficiently monitor production flow and control utility costs. Moving into a new more modern, better suited production facility will definitely help increase productivity, reduce premises maintenance costs, enhance presentability to potential clients and will attract artistic talents from within the community, added cfo Camerino.

A floor dedicated solely to Pacific Digital, home to pasis digital ink-and-paint and Flash unit, will feature 100 new workstations. The new space will exclude all dividers, allowing supervisors to easily monitor work flow, said Pacific Digital manager, Lani Barcelona. Additionally, MIS department will be housed on the same floor, offering for quick access to FTP files, back-up procedures and more efficient IT integration. Studio manager Eloriaga added, The artist lounge areas and open floor plan will allow for greater camaraderie and encourage creative exchange between artists.

pasi will hold on to its current facilities until the end of 2005, allowing productions to overlap between the two studios and will continue to maintain its U.S. business and marketing offices in Pacific Palisades, California.

pasis current productions include BENJAMIN BEAR for Ottawa-based Amberwood Productions, the continuing home video series, LEAPFROG, for Porchlight Ent. and several new projects.
