Rob Legato, Mark Russell to Headline Manhattan Edit Workshop

Manhattan Edit Workshop announces the return of From the Cutting Room, November 21, which will feature the visual effects duo Rob Legato and Mark Russell.

 Manhattan Edit Workshop, the cutting-edge authorized digital training destination for post-production and content creators, announced the return of popular series, From the Cutting Room. The upcoming industry event, which is slated for Thursday, November 21st, will feature Rob Legato (Hugo, Avatar, Shutter Island) and Mark Russell (The Adjustment Bureau, Doubt, Minority Report). The celebrated VFX duo, currently at work on the upcoming Scorsese film, Wolf of Wall Street, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, will give attendees a behind-the-scenes look at the techniques behind creating stunning visual effects and discuss how they take full advantage of the performance and reliability of HP Z Workstations powered by Intel Xeon processors. The evening event, moderated by MEWShop’s Josh Apter, will take place at the famed French Institute on November 21st at 7pm.

Rob Legato won two Academy Awards for his outstanding work on the films Titanic (1998) and Hugo (2012). He was also a part of the visual effects team for Star Trek: The Next Generation as both Visual Effects Coordinator and Visual Effects Supervisor. Legato is praised for his HD-based workflow methodology, which he has honed specifically through his collaborations with Martin Scorsese and critically acclaimed editor Thelma Schoonmaker.

Mark Russell is known for his visual effects work on films including E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), Minority Report (2002), and The Adjustment Bureau (2011). In 2009, he was nominated for a VES Award for Outstanding Supporting Visual Effects in a Feature Motion Picture.
