Russia-Based SMF Studio Inks Deal with Vietnam-based FPT Telecom

The Russian production company is expanding its geographical audience with the sale of five original new animated series for broadcast via the Telecom company’s IPTV and OTT services in Vietnam.

Russian production company, SMF Studio (Soyuzmultfilm), is again expanding its geographical reach, having just sold five of the company’s new animated series to FPT Telecom in Vietnam. This comes on the heels of a recent agreement with India-based Toonz Media to co-produce a new CGI series Aliens in My Backpack; the studio is sharing in the distribution, licensing, and merchandising of the new property.

The animated series are: The Secrets of Honey Hills (52 х 7’), The Adventures of Peter and Wolf (52 х 11’), Mr Theo, Cat & Dog (52 х 6’30’’), Captain Kraken and his Crew (26 х 7’), Pirates’ School (11 х 11’).  They’ll be broadcast via FPT Telecom’s IPTV and OTT services in Vietnam in the Vietnamese language. This license contract is the first for SMF Studio’s content in Vietnam.

“Distribution to international markets is one of the key strategic goals in the development of our company,” commented SMF Studio chairman of the board Yuliana Slashcheva. “And we are very pleased that such telecommunications giant is showing interest in Russian animation as well as in the new studio product. That proves once again that we can produce a high-quality and versatile content that would be understood by a viewer from anywhere in the world. We are confident that the new audience will highly appreciate our animation, which is already loved by millions of kids, and will turn to a long-term relationship with FPT Telecom.”
