The Toronto ACM SIGGRAPH Professional Chapter announces its website launch and debut screening of the SIGGRAPH 2012 Computer Animation Festival Electronic Theater Program.

The Toronto ACM SIGGRAPH Professional Chapter has announced the launch of its new website, and the debut Toronto screening of the SIGGRAPH 2012 Computer Animation Festival Electronic Theater Program. On June 25th 2013, the Chapter will host an evening of education and entertainment on the big screen.
There has been an overwhelming level of interest and dedication, to the development of the Toronto ACM SIGGRAPH Professional Chapter. The new website features membership opportunities, and announces the debut screening of the SIGGRAPH 2012 Electronic Theater in Toronto. ACM SIGGRAPH, host of the international SIGGRAPH conferences, is an international not-for-profit organization focused upon building and shaping the computer graphics community.
The name ACM SIGGRAPH is an acronym which stands for “Association of Computer Machinery’s Special Interest Group in computer GRAPHics and interactive techniques.” ACM SIGGRAPH has grown globally from a handful of computer graphics enthusiasts to a diverse group of researchers, artists, developers, filmmakers and scientists across various industries. Toronto is now home to a local professional chapter seeking to centralize and enhance city-wide collaboration.

The local chapter is possible by passionate volunteers and sponsors. The annual SIGGRAPH Computer Animation Festival Electronic Theater Program presents the world's most innovative, accomplished, and amazing digital film and video creations. An internationally recognized jury receives hundreds of submissions and presents the best work of the year in the Electronic Theater. Selections include outstanding achievements in time-based art, scientific visualization, visual effects, real-time graphics, and narrative shorts. The SIGGRAPH Computer Animation Festival is recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as a qualifying festival. Since 1999, works originally presented in the Computer Animation Festival have been nominated for, or have received, an Academy Award for Best Animated Short.
