Sony Pictures is in final talks with Ubisoft to acquire the film rights to the popular videogame franchise ASSASSIN'S CREED, reports Variety. The project would be the first feature co-production with the French gaming firm via its newly formed Ubisoft Motion Pictures, which is headed by former EuropaCorp CEO Jean-Julien Baronnet.
The story centers on bartender Desmond Miles who is kidnapped by a mega-corporation and forced to relive the memories of his ancient assassin relatives in order to locate powerful ancient artifacts. Later he is rescued by modern Assassins and set with the task of helping stop the end of the world.
