‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’ to Release Early

What a difference 2 days makes! The highly anticipated Nintendo and Illumination animated comedy starring Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key and Seth Rogen now jumps into theaters April 5, 2023.

Get ready to don your red hat and overalls just a couple days earlier! The domestic and international release date for The Super Mario Bros. Movie has moved up two days from April 7 to April 5, 2023. The film will debut on various dates throughout April and May in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and certain Eastern European markets, with an April 28 release in Japan.

Keep an eye out for Nintendo Direct on March 9th at 2pm PT, which will showcase the final trailer for the film.

Directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic (collaborators on Teen Titans Go!, Teen Titans Go! To the Movies) from a screenplay by Matthew Fogel (The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, Minions: The Rise of Gru), the movie stars Chris Pratt as Mario; Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach; Charlie Day as Luigi; Jack Black as Bowser; Keegan-Michael Key as Toad; Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong; Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong; Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek; and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike.

Super Mario is produced by Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and Shigeru Miyamoto for Nintendo. The film is co-financed by Universal Pictures and Nintendo and released worldwide by Universal Pictures.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie now drops in theaters April 5, 2023.
