Sydney's Japanime Fest To Hold Austrlian Premiere of Vampire Hunter D 2000

Japanime, the major film component of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Arts Festival is touring Brisbane for a four-day celebration of the very best of Japanese animation. On Thursday, September 7 at 6:45 pm, the opening night celebration will feature food and drinks and be capped off by an English dubbed screening of Hayao Miyazakis masterpiece, PRINCESS MONONOKE. Screening on Friday, September 8 at 7 pm will be Hiroyuki Yamagas WINGS OF HONNEAMISE, an epic tale of a civilization's first faltering steps into space. Following WINGS at 9:20 pm will be Katsuhiro Otomos SPRIGGAN, which follows the story of the discovery that Noahs Ark is a powerful alien technology that was used to create earth's atmosphere and life forms. Screening on Saturday, September 9 at 3 pm will be Hayao Miyazakis NAUSICAA OF THE VALLEY OF THE WINDS, a tale of a feisty young princess who seeks peace in a devastated future world. Screening on Saturday, September 9 at 7 pm will be PORCO ROSSO, the far-fetched tale of air pirates, bounty hunters, a flying pig and nightclub chanteuse. Screening on Saturday, September 9 at 9 pm, is the Australian premiere of Yoshiaki Kawajiris VAMPIRE HUNTER D remake. Screening on Sunday, September 10 at 1 pm will be Isao Takahatas POMPOKO, a comedy about mythical forest animals who transform into humans and learn their ways by watching television. Finishing off the festival on Sunday, September 10 at 3:20 pm will be Satoshi Kons thriller classic PERFECT BLUE.
