Toei Animation Unveils ‘Ikimono-san’ Key Art, Trailer, and Theme Song Artist

The new animated series, directed by Atsushi Wada (‘Bird in the Peninsula’), follows Bōzu and his dog Inu as they interact with animals and insects.

Toei animation has just released the key art and trailer for their upcoming animated series Ikimono-san, as well as announcing that the pop band Nekosen will perform the theme song. Multi-award-winning filmmaker Atsushi Wada will make his television debut as writer and director of the series.

Ikimono-san, adapted from Wada’s indie game My Exercise, follows Bōzu and his dog Inu as they encounter various “ikimono” (living creatures). Bōzu, fascinated by these creatures, yearns to become one of them, and Inu makes every effort to fulfil his wish.

Wada's 2022 short, Bird in the Peninsula, took the grand prix last year for best short at the Ottawa Animation Festival. Nekosen's first album, Honey, Moon, Travels was released on February 2, 2022.

Kazunori Matsubara serves as executive producer and Nobuharu Takada and Hiroshi Kamei as producers.  Other credits include animation production by New Deer; color designer by Misa Amako; sound direction by Masumi Takino; music by Koji Takahashi; and planning and production by Nobuaki Doi.
