UCA to Produce 'Fearsome Beastie' CG Animated Short

Award-winning children’s book, “The Fearsome Beastie,” by Giles Paley-Phillips, is to be adapted into an animated short co-directed by Katie Steed and Jon Hunt in collaboration with the UK’s University of Creative Arts.

This month sees the announcement of a CGI animation short film of “The Fearsome Beastie” by award-winning author Giles Paley-Phillips.

The book, published by Maverick Arts Publishing, will be adapted by independent animation studio Slurpy Studios and co-directed by Katie Steed and Jon Hunt in collaboration with the UK’s University of Creative Arts (UCA). UCA has a prestigious track record in animation having produced four Oscar winners to date.

The film will be completed during the summer of 2014 and will be launched on the festival circuit soon after.

“The Fearsome Beastie” has had much success since its release in May 2011, having won the People's Book Prize in 2012 it has also been shortlisted for many other awards including The Rotherham children's Book award 2012 and The Heart of Hawick Children's Book Prize in 2013.
