Union VFX announces its collaboration with artistic director Danny Boyle and the BBC to create short films to be featured in the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony.
London, UK -- Visual effects company Union VFX announced its collaboration with Artistic Director Danny Boyle and the BBC to create short films to be featured in the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony.
Boyle nominated Adam Gascoyne, co-founder of Union, to join his creative team in 2010 when the initial planning began. The visual effects veteran has worked with Boyle for the past decade, helping him to create many memorable scenes in films including 127 Hours and the Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire.
“When Danny first asked Union to get on board, I was delighted,” Gascoyne recalled. “Creating films with the BBC for the Olympic Ceremony offers a truly unique creative opportunity for Union and we are very proud to be working with one of the UK’s leading film directors on such an exciting project.
”Union is responsible for realizing Boyle’s creative vision, from the storyboards and pre-visualization to final postproduction. The films will be shown for the first time during the ceremony on 27 July 2012, with a predicted worldwide TV audience of over a billion people.
“Union aims to provide filmmakers with the creative tools to tell their stories in the most powerful ways possible,” said Tim Caplan, co-founder of Union and Visual Effects Producer. “We feel privileged to be helping Danny and the BBC to tell the story of the “Isles of Wonder” (the title of the opening ceremony).
When the ceremony wraps, Union will be moving on to complete work on Danny Boyle’s upcoming feature film Trance.
