Billed as ‘vengeance equals justice for both the Bat and the Cat,’ the Dark Knight – and Catwoman - return in the latest DC version of its famed Gotham City vigilante detective, with Robert Pattinson as the caped and rather moody crusader, Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle, and ‘Planet of the Apes’ franchise director Matt Reeves at the helm; film hits theaters March 4, 2022.
It’s been pushed, pulled… and halted by the pandemic, but at for now, fingers crossed, finally set to hit theaters this coming March 4. Warner Bros. Pictures’ latest reincarnation of the Dark Knight returns in The Batman, with Robert Pattinson taking on the roles of Gotham City’s vigilante detective and his alter ego, reclusive billionaire Bruce Wayne. As the press release states… “Justice with a vengeance.”
The trailer offers an action-packed glimpse of what’s to come, all shot without a single ray of sunlight! But there are kitties… take a look:
Directed by Planet of the Apes franchise helmer Matt Reeves, The Batman stars Pattinson along with Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle; Paul Dano as Edward Nashton; Jeffrey Wright as the GCPD’s James Gordon; John Turturro as Carmine Falcone; Peter Sarsgaard as Gotham D.A. Gil Colson; Jayme Lawson as mayoral candidate Bella Reál; Andy Serkis as Alfred; and Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot.
Reeves directs from a screenplay by Reeves & Peter Craig, based on characters from DC. “Batman” was created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger. Dylan Clark and Reeves produce, with Michael E. Uslan, Walter Hamada, Chantal Nong Vo, and Simon Emanuel serving as executive producers.
The film’s visual effects are being produced by Weta Digital, led by VFX supervisor Dan Lemmon; ILM, led by VFX supervisor Russell Earl; and Scanline VFX, led by VFX Supervisor Julius Lechner.
The director’s creative team includes Oscar-nominated director of photography Greig Fraser; production designer James Chinlund; editor William Hoy; editor Tyler Nelson; and Oscar-winning costume designer Jacqueline Durran. The music is by Oscar-winning composer Michael Giacchino.
