Keanu Reeves may reprise his role as the Hellblazer Constantine, or he may slash his way into the MCU as Wolverine; either way, he’s a superhero in our book.
Light up a cigarette and say a prayer: the Hellblazer could be back. The execs at Warner Bros. may be considering bringing the Internet’s boyfriend Keanu Reeves (John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum, Toy Story 4, Bill and Ted Face the Music, The Matrix 4, Cyberpunk 2077, Between Two Ferns: The Movie) back as DC’s Constantine. After an amazing reanimation to international fame in 2019, Reeves is a coveted household name. All the ladies (and many men) want him, and so do all the comic book nerd execs; rumor has it that WB greenlit Matrix 4 just to ensure that Reeves couldn’t do a Marvel movie.
Many have been speculating about what character Reeves would play in the MCU, and a fan favorite has been Wolverine. Reeves has even expressed interest in portraying the adamantium man in the new X-Men reboot, as Logan is a fellow Canadian. Good thing that other hunky Canadian Ryan Reynolds already took Deadpool 3’s Wade Wilson (also a Canadian), or we might have had a very polite war on our hands. WB seems to have different plans for him altogether, however.
Colin Farrell had previously been a top choice for the new Constantine, but with Reeves’ cult-like popularity, and admitted desire to reprise the role, he is the new obvious choice. Rumors also indicate that Reeves could show up in the DCEU’s Deathstroke reboot or Ava DuVernay’s New Gods. While Reeves isn’t necessarily comic-accurate, he is truly ‘breathtaking’ and his return to Constantine would be a positively sinful watch.
