Greg Baldwin Joins Sony Pictures Television International

Former MTV marketing director Greg Baldwin has been appointed vice president, marketing and talent relations, Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI). Based in Los Angeles, Baldwin assumes responsibility for all of SPTI's promotional marketing and talent relations' activities in support of the company's three lines of business - licensing, international networks and international productions. Most recently, Baldwin served as the director, music marketing for MTV Networks in New York.

RTV's Roboroach Ready For Delivery

German entertainment company RTV International will introduce the new animated series ROBOROACH at MIPTV 2002. Starring a cockroach superhero named Rube who can morph into almost anything and Reg, Rube's street-smart big brother, the series was inspired by a Japanese newspaper story in which scientists claimed to be able to control cockroaches through implanted computer chips. ROBOROACH is a co-production between RTV Family Entertainment AG, VIDEAL and Portfolio Entertainment. RTV International holds all distribution rights except for North America.

OIAF Retrospectives And Special Screenings Information Now Online!

John Kricfalusi, Piotr Dumala, R.O. Blechman, Harry Smith and Taku Furukawa. These are some of the names in the spotlight at the Ottawa International Animation Festival 2002 (OIAF). The next edition will take place October 2-6, 2002, at the National Arts Center in Ottawa, Canada. OIAF 2002 will treat both the international animation community and public audiences to a five-day event featuring the best new animated short and feature-length films and videos from around the world.

Igel Media Announces New Head Of Distribution

Family entertainment company Igel Media has appointed Victoria Valius as head of distribution. In her new role, Valius will head up the company's international television distribution division in London, overseeing all international sales. In addition, she will be actively looking to expand the company's catalogue and sourcing opportunities to co-produce quality programming in the company's key markets including Germany, France and the UK.

4Kids Entertainment Signs New Licensees For Cubix

4Kids Entertainment International has signed a number of new licensees for its Japan-acquired CGI-animated series CUBIX ROBOTS FOR EVERYONE led by master toy licensee Trendmasters, with a collectible action toy line featuring interactive cards. The Character Group has been named the U.K. distributor and will be showcasing the line at the International Toy Fair in London in January 2002. Other licenses signed for the international market include 3DO (videogames) and Scholastic (publishing). CUBIX premiered in the U.S. August 2001 on Kids' WB! The show will debut in the U.K.

25th Cinanima International Animation Festival

This year, Cinanima is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Since 1977, Cinanima has been promoting the international art of animation in Espinho, a city located on the Northern coast of Portugal. Every year, the Cinanima International Animated Film Festival presents an international animation competition program, as well as retrospectives and exhibitions. Categories for competition include: shorts, features, first films, title sequences, educational films and TV series. Cash awards range from Euro 3,800 (Grand Prize) to Euro 1,200. There is no entry fee.

Twentieth Century Fox has united its international theatrical and international home entertainment units under the supervision of Stephen Moore. Moore has been president of Twentieth Century Fox, Home Entertainment International (TCFHEI) since June 1997. In his new position as president of Twentieth Century Fox International, Moore will continue to oversee TCFHEI and will also oversee the company's international theatrical marketing and distribution operations, which will continue to be managed by Scott Neeson, president, Twentieth Century Fox International Theatrical.
