TLC Appoints DreamWorks-Dedicated Manager
U.K.-based The Licensing Company (TLC) and Biplano, licensing and promotional marketing company for Southern Europe, have appointed Gemma Woodward as DreamWork Animation's European Brand Manager working within its Entertainment division. Previously employed at Dorling Kindersley Ltd, Sharpcards Ltd and Entertainment Rights PLC, Woodward will apply her expertise to meet the needs of DreamWorks and TLC UK, France and Germany and Biplano in Spain, to ensure a smooth and successful working relationship.

UPA Founder David Hilberman Dies
David Hilberman, one of the co-founders of UPA, passed away on July 5, 2007, at Stanford Hospital in Stanford, California, due to complications from an infection, reports his son Mark. He was 96 years old.

eyeon Software announced at SIGGRAPH 2005 that Santa Monica-based R!OT confirmed its decision to introduce Fusion 5 into its workflow.
R!ot is a vfx studio specializing in digital imagery, commercial, feature, music video, HD and television productions.

WIA NY Meeting
WIA NY will host its last meeting of the season. It will have a good ol' Show'n Tell Night. For those of you who don't know what this is - bring something you're working on whether it's on paper or produced and share it with the group. It's always a treat to actually get to see what everyone is working on. Bring a VHS or DVD or artwork - whatever form it's in will be fun. WIA will get through as many people as we can in the time that we have. Limit is no more than 5 minutes/person.

Intel Establishes Group To Create 3D Standards For The Web
The Intel Corporation has established the CAD (Computer Aided Design) 3D Working Group to define, develop and deploy a common format to represent 3D images on the Web. The working group is part of the Web3D Consortium, a forum for the creation of open standards for Web 3D specifications, and includes members from various segments of the 3D graphics industry, including CAD software vendors, CAD users and digital content creators.
Flipside Signs Nathaniel Hunter In San Francisco
Creative editorial and post-production boutique Flipside has just completed a major Clorox campaign via DDB/SF, after the addition of lead animator Nathaniel Hunter. Nathaniel brings a broad background in games, multimedia, television and film production to his new role as lead animator at Flipside Editorial. Nathaniel was co-founder of Lumens Studios where he spent three years before going freelance. During that time, he began consulting for Matteworld Digital on the film ARMAGEDDON.
