It's a crazy day – besides being the day Idiots and Angels premieres at the IFC Center, it's also the day that all the reviews come out.

So briskly, at 6AM, I eagerly go to my local magazine shop and buy all the papers:

The Daily News doesn't review the film – maybe on Friday.

The NY Post had a wonderfully positive review by V.A. Musetto, where he that the film is “dark, grotesque, misanthropic, and anarchic.”

Newsday had nothing.

Time Out, the weekly entertainment journal, had a positive calling the film “morbid hilarity”.

The venerable New York Magazine called it a “demented moral fantasy”.

The two free morning papers, The Metro and AM New York failed to review it, and astonishingly enough, the Village Voice had absolutely no mention of it, not even an ad. I was very disappointed.

But the real highlight was the New York Times. Their top-line reviewer Stephen Holden called it, among other wonderful things, “relentless and brilliant”.

Since the NY Times review, my phone has been ringing off the hook from friends, fans, and especially other theaters who now want to book my film.

So, barring any complete disaster, it looks like Idiots and Angels will be a success. Whew! After a journey of 6 years, it's nice to see it come to a positive end. However, I'll still continue my Idiots' Diary blog up through my LA premiere on October 29th. Thanks for following along on this trip.
