Don Bluth/ Gary Goldman Coming to Savannah Film Fest.

Hello.

Don Bluth and Gary Goldman are coming to the Savannah Film Festival next week.

They will be receiving a lifetime achievement award for their contributions at the Festival.

They are also donating over 1 million pieces of artwork to SCAD worth over $15,000,000.00. Artwork will include everything from model sheets to animation cels and drawings to backgrounds, layouts, concept drawings, etc.

Congrats to Don and Gary- they deserve it!

Unfortunately, I will be in Lacoste so I will miss the ceremony...

Thanks

That makes the going rate for a piece of art from a Bluth film $15.00.

Remember when you couldn't even get a cel from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for that price?

Gary Goldman? Cool! I loved him in "Different Strokes".

Sorry, but you're thinking of Gary Coleman.
Gary Goldman is a former Disney animator who has been working with Don Bluth for many, many years, making decent animated films with often excellent animation but average plots and characters.

Well geez! I can't believe it! Don Bluth is finally coming back to SCAD! He was there the year before I enrolled, now he's coming back the year after I graduated. I might have to sqeeze a trip down to smelly old Savannah next weekend.

Duh... You can't actually think that after 15 years of being in this industry, you thought I actually thought Gary Goldman was actually the little black kid on Different Strokes?

I signed up for the Bluth/Goldman event among other things but got tickets for everything but that. I'm pretty upset since I signed up for my tickets in the beginning of October.

Hello.

Great news!
But what about John Pomeroy? Sure, they haven't done a whole lot together during recent years but I always considered them a trio instead of a duo.

Mighty!

Hello Mighty,

I would check with someone re:the ticket situation.

Wade, I think it's great that a little child can reach the animation table!

Thanks;)

Well, Pomeroy did return to Disney a while back, which may put him in the "traitor" category... :D

Traitor? Naaah! Not unless Bluth and Goldman have forgotten where they learned it all in the first place. Last thing I heard is that Pomeroy is now animating for Universal.

Bluth harbors ill feelings toward Disney to this day. I wouldn't be surprised if Pomeroy's return caused a rift. But it's all speculation, isn't it (which is what makes it fun!)

They say on their website that they and Pomeroy get along pretty well, mail regularly and all that. I don't think they'd be peeved about Pomeroy making a living as an animator.
