I am working on this scene where you have this set up of two armies standing across from each other.
its a trailer for our film and we want to add this scene where the camera is in the centre of the two armies and moves forward quickly and then comes to rest on a man in the middle.
point is im being told it wont look good the way i have it in mind because its essentially a 3d trait to move the camera like that.
what you guys think?

Flash Camera move question
Sure you can do it Skinny. You are going to need a lot of layers of soldiers. I guess it kind of depends on how stylized it'll be. It is possible though.

what i suggested to do was to begin the camera move and then give the soldiers and the cavalry a motion blur ?
that a good idea ?
Think about the old early 90s animated series of the X-Men. That was traditionally animated but it was so limited and in the sequence such subdued movement that I can't see why it can't be done in Flash.
(Speaking of the end of the theme where the two armies of Xavier and Magneto's run into one another)
here is the drawing of the shot set up. the armies are infantry with cavalry behind them.
This is just a very rough version of what I was thinking. Each layer of colored mush on the sides scale up and tween off screen at different rates to give a multi-plain feel.

All it's missing to be the X-Men thing is them approaching each other along with the zoom (except it's got different 'camera direction'). :)
hi, I recall that there was a similar setup in the animated version of "The Hobbit", where gandalf stood between the opposing armies. Though it was limited animation, it was a dramatic scene.
Also, you should check out the the game "God of War", the cinematic used both flat and multidimensional images to create vast armies going to war, with some camera moves. I think Flash can be used to do some of that as well.
thanks guys.
Ape, what you suggested is what we did yesterday. were having issues with file size and lag because its one BIG army.
it works though. it does what we wanted it to do.
thanks.
