Best way to start learning animation? (before college)

Hi everyone, I'm just looking for some simple advice to make sure Im headed in the right direction. My goal right now is to learn traditional animation up to an intermediate level or better before I actually consider applying to any colleges to further my studies. When school starts back up I'm going to be a junior and I'm 16, so I have two whole years to prepare myself.

I guess what I'm asking for is the best way to acheive this, whether it is teaching myself from books and instructional DVD's or going to special programs and stuff like that. Information about animation itself, life drawing and figure drawing, character design and story development.

At the moment I'm learning from one of Tony White's books (How to make animated films) and a couple other books stacked up in my home, and I have a copy of Scott T. Peterson's "Animation & Drawing Excellence" as well. I think there's a lot of material here, but there's just so much to take in. But I'm willing to face the challenges ahead,

I highly recommend getting a copy of "The Animators Survival Kit" by Richard Williams. If you can, obtain a copy of flash or toon boom for your computer and a tablet to draw on. This will eliminate the need for paper and other expensive equipment to make pencil tests. There are also some good books on amazon for character animation using flash you might want to look into, also a always a good resource is youtube, you'd be surprised how many helpful videos I've found there. Do a whole lot of life drawing, and spend as much time as you can reading through animation books to understand techniques used. Best of luck.

It will become more easily if you have enough interests . study is a long project .so you should make a available plan .you may choose study to rely on yourself and some videos tutorial , or choose a good training course .but it is most important to practice .
