Adobe Releases Substance Alchemist Update

New features include a game changing AI-powered scan workflow tool that turns photographic data into usable material; recent updates to Substance Designer included Substance Engine V8 for improved workflow and performance.

Adobe has released new features to Substance Alchemist, introducing new content and workflows for 3D artists to create complex materials with precise control. It provides users the ability to create vast collections of materials, whether working from data provided by existing photos or other images, or by modifying existing 3D resources. It grants users essentially limitless power to digitize the world. The new release provides more content, improved features, and an increase in results and efficiency overall.

The new release of Substance Alchemist includes:

  • A new atlas workflow showcasing the Image to Material filter, an AI-powered tool released earlier this year for generating materials from photos.
  • More options for technical filters, warp and weathering filters, and color variation when designing materials.
  • Create automatic icons for materials; initially available for Substance Designer release is now in Substance Alchemist.
  • NVIDIA RTX 30 compatibility for the Image to Material filter.

Adobe also recently introduced updates to Substance Designer, including a new Substance Engine and improved workflow and performance capabilities.

The new release includes:

  • Substance Engine V8, which powers new distance computations, smoother gradients, and more.
  • Streamlined workflows for expose parameters and icon configuration in Substance graph.
  • Faster performance for graph computation and dilation and diffusion of baked textures.
  • New Threshold and Cross Section filters and new parameters for Tile Generator and Tile Sampler.
