Showrunner Jon Favreau confirms the after-credits teaser from the Season 2 finale marks the beginning of a new series set in the same timeline, coming December 2021.
Spoiler alert! Fans were thrilled when a surprise after-credits scene rolled after The Mandalorian Season 2 finale, which teased new Disney+ series The Book of Boba Fett. Series showrunner and creator Jon Favreau confirmed Monday that Mr. Fett and Fennec will appear in a spinoff series set in The Mandalorian timeline, which conveniently was not announced during Disney’s Investor Day blitz of new Star Wars and Marvel universe shows from earlier this month.
Favreau sat down with Deadline and shared, “We wanted to hold this back because we didn’t want to spoil the surprise during the big Disney announcement for all the shows.. and so they let me keep this one a secret. This is actually separate from The Mandalorian Season 3, and then we go into production after that with Season 3 of The Mandalorian, with the main character [Din Djarin played by Pedro Pascal] that we all have known and loved.”
The details were also announced on the official Disney+ Twitter account:
