Facial animation developer expands executive team with the appointment of one of its key advisors.
Manchester, UK -- Following recent successes and with a rapidly expanding client portfolio of world-leading developers, Cubic Motion has chosen to appoint one of its key advisers, Andy Wood, as Executive Chairman.
Andy brings to Cubic Motion vast experience in video game development and the creative industries. He has been involved in the development and marketing of over 50 Number One video games; co-founding USD, Mirage, The Producers, Actualize and UKIE. Andy also co-founded Gabble, a visual language, and the digital design agency Great Fridays with Peter Gabriel. Great Fridays were acquired by EPAM in October 2014. Andy co-founded WholeWorldBand with Kevin Godley which was released on iPhone in 2014 following successful first and second round funding of $5m. Andy has previously been CEO of Image Metrics, guiding it through times of profitability and growth. He has been a Board Adviser and shareholder of Cubic Motion since 2009.
Andy Wood said, “I’ve known the founders and management of Cubic Motion over a decade. I’m honoured to be asked to participate at this level. I’ve spent my working life involved at the cutting edge of video games, animation, music and digital technology alongside many celebrated and creative thinkers. Cubic Motion are among the most dedicated and loyal people I know; evident in their unwavering passion to deliver world-beating facial animation solutions and services. Where sometimes it might seem easier to follow the crowd, this team will always stick to the path that’s the right one for the industry, even if it takes that while longer to change the status quo. But when clients switch to Cubic Motion they learn they’ve made the right choice. Cubic Motion delivers. Their PhDs, scientists, producers and animation specialists make an art of problem solving. We are talking genius level.”
“The key to world beating facial animation in games is the use of specialists. Developers need to get serious, there’s simply no other way to satisfy the growing consumer expectations. I believe that Cubic Motion has a stronger team and better technology than any in-house solution or vendor product on the planet. This simply creates better facial animation, faster, and with resultant economies of scale. There are already so many different options for various budgets, including capture-based animation from single or stereo cameras and animation from client audio files, but there is much more to come from Cubic Motion as we expand and diversify. Watch this space.”
Dr. Gareth Edwards, CEO Cubic Motion said, “Andy, alongside our other expert advisers, has played an important role in Cubic Motion’s success so far. The next year promises incredible growth and some very exciting strategic announcements that will further change the way game developers, filmmakers, and TV producers think about facial animation. With Andy fully involved in the executive team, we feel better placed than ever to deliver on our ambitious expansion plans.”
