Dragon Kicks Ass in Fourth Week in Theaters

In its fourth week at the U.S. box office, DreamWorks' HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON regained the #1 slot for the weekend of April 16-19, 2010. The animated fantasy has now made $158.6 million domestically.

The new release KICK-ASS didn't do as its name suggests and came in second with a weak $19.8 million haul. The superhero satire has visual effects from Double Negative, Ghost VFX, Lip Sync Post, Plowman Craven & Associates and The Senate Visual Effects.

DATE NIGHT reserved third place with $17.3 million, lifting its cume to $49.2 million.

The comedy DEATH AT A FUNERAL from Screen Gems debuted in fourth with $17 million.

Last week's #1, CLASH OF THE TITANS, plummeted to fifth with another $15.8 million. With vfx by Framestore, The Moving Picture Company, Cinesite, CEG Media, Flash Film Works, Neil Corbould Special Effects, Nvizible, and Prime Focus View-D, the mythic epic has made $133 million thus far.

Buena Vista's THE LAST SONG dropped to sixth with $5.8 million, lifting its cume to $50 million, while Lionsgate's TYLER PERRY'S WHY DID I GET MARRIED TOO? followed in seventh with an additional $4.18 million, bringing its cume to $54.9 million.

HOT TUB TIME MACHINE (with vfx by Mr. X) warped into eighth with $3.55 million, elevating its total box office receipts to $42.5 million. ALICE IN WONDERLAND (with vfx by Café FX, Matte World Digital, Nvizage, Sony Pictures Imageworks, and Svengali Visual Effects) slipped to #9 with $3.5 million, making its cume $324 million. THE BOUNTY HUNTER rounded out the top ten with $3.2 million, making its cume $60.4 million.
