DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc. is contemplating distributing its own films after its agreement with Paramount ends next year, reports Bloomberg. The studio wants to distribute all of its films digitally and may consider releasing films for other studios as well. The move would give DreamWorks more control over the release dates and marketing of their films, but no decision has been made and the studio is still open to signing a deal with another distributor. If it did decide to go it on their own, the house that SHREK built would still need to find a partner for the international release.

DreamWorks Animation and Paramount came to an impasse over renewing their contract when DreamWorks wanted Paramount to lower their fee while Paramount wanted to raise it. Under the current deal, Paramount receives 8% of revenue for theatrical and DVD.
