Gaumont Secures New Territories for ‘Calimero’

Iconic animated series from headed to Discovery Kids Latin America, Russia’s TiJI, Ireland’s TG4, Belgium’s RTBF and Ketnet , Zappelin in The Netherlands, Just4Kids in Benelux, Isreal’s Hop, Serbia’s Prava i Prevodi, and Slovenia’s RTV.

Paris, France -- Gaumont Animation, one of Europe’s leading producers and distributors of children’s entertainment, announced today that the company has secured a number of international sales for its animated CGI series Calimero (104 x 11), based on the original 1963 series of the same name.  Broadcasters who have signed on board include Discovery Kids (Latin America), TiJI (Russia), TG4 (Ireland), RTBF (Belgium), Ketnet (Belgium), Zappelin (The Netherlands), Just4Kids (Benelux), Hop (Israel), Prava i Prevodi  (Serbia) and RTV (Slovenia).

“Audiences around the world have been following the adventures of Calimero for over five decades,” commented Pierre Belaisch, Managing Director of Gaumont Animation. “With these new sales reaching multiple territories, we are now able to extend and introduce this lovable, iconic character to an entire new audience of children.”

Calimero is a loveable little black chicken that was initially created in 1963 by Nino Pagot, Toni Pagot and Ignazio Colnaghi and became an international hit with 290 episodes of animation aired in over 80 countries.  Gaumont Animation distributes the program worldwide except in Asia.

With his big heart, three eager companions and an old mill teeming with incredible inventions, Calimero sets off on wild adventures to put right all those things in life that are just not fair. Between school, secret meetings in their workshop, our four friends have a whale of a time! They invite children of all ages to join them on their explosive adventures and take a fresh look at the world around them with an open heart.
