The ‘I Am Mother’ helmer joins writer Dave Callaham on the upcoming franchise installment, set to continue the story of Godzilla, Kong, and the remaining pantheon of infamous Titans
Grant Sputore (I Am Mother) is set to direct the next theatrical feature film in Legendary’s Monsterverse franchise, which follows this past March’s Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Dave Callaham (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse) will pen the script.
Spanning 10 years, the Monsterverse is an expansive cross-platform story universe centering around humanity’s battle to survive in a world facing a catastrophic new reality – the monsters of our myths and legends are real. The upcoming installment will continue the ever-raging battle between Godzilla, Kong, and the pantheon of infamous Titans.
Beginning with Godzilla in 2014 and continuing through 2017’s Kong: Skull Island, 2019’s Godzilla: King of Monsters, 2021’s Godzilla Vs. Kong, and the recent Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, the Monsterverse has accumulated over two-and-a-half-billion-dollars at the global box office, expanded into the event series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters for Apple TV+, and encompasses an inter-connected world of video games, graphic novels, toys, and live experiences.
