Guru Makes Netflix Deal for 'Justin Time'

Guru Studios signs a multi-territory deal with Netflix for their hit preschool show, "Justin Time."

Toronto, Canada -- Guru Studio announced its first multi-territory deal with internet television network Netflix for its break-out preschool hit Justin Time. Netflix has acquired the subscription video on-demand rights of Justin Time for the US and UK (Seasons 1 and 2, 52 x 11), and Latin America (Season 1, 26 x 11).

The landmark deal marks an important milestone for the Canadian independent, securing the distribution of Guru Studio’s showcase property with the world’s fastest-growing entertainment platform.

Justin Time will be released on Netflix in the US and UK starting April 1st, 2013 and in Latin America starting in June 2013.

Netflix launched Just For Kids in August 2011 in an effort to accommodate their growing young audience and the increasing demand for family friendly shows and movies. In 2012, Netflix members watched more than two billion hours of kids content confirming the expanding importance of streaming entertainment.

Justin Time has been acquired by top broadcasters across the globe such as Disney Junior (Canada), Disney (Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Italy and Canada), SRTL (Germany), Discovery Familia (Spanish USA), Nick Jr. (France), Tiny Pop (UK), and Hop! Channel (Israel), among others. It airs in over 70 countries and was recently nominated for three prestigious Annie Awards (Best Character Animation, Best Production Design and Best General Audience).

Justin Time is a character driven animated series for three-to-six year olds based on an original concept by Brandon Scott. The series follows the adventures of Justin and his imaginary pals Olive and Squidgy as they set off on fantastical adventures in time, told from every corner of the world! Justin’s everyday pre-school challenge sets the stage for adventure, as they ride rockets into space; discover new worlds with the Viking’s; and chase Cleopatra’s cat through the pyramids of Egypt!
