For the first time ever, SOUTH PARK will be broadcast on television in HD when SOUTH PARK'S IMAGINATIONLAND premieres on DIRECTV's The 101 Network tonight at midnight.
DIRECTV will be the exclusive home of the feature-length, director's cut from May 30-May 31. The instant classic IMAGINATIONLAND trilogy originally aired on Comedy Central last fall, setting ratings records for the all-comedy network.
In addition, DIRECTV will also offer the HD version of SOUTH PARK's Season 8 premiere, "Good Times With Weapons," on The 101 Network. The HD version of "Good Times With Weapons" was originally made available to Microsoft Xbox Live members in 2007.
The IMAGINATIONLAND trilogy drew almost 10 million viewers to SOUTH PARK's Wednesday premiere time slot (10-10:30 p.m.) when it aired last fall. The trilogy averaged a colossal 7.5 rating among men 18-24, scoring a 23 share across the three episodes among this highly coveted demographic -- even beating out Game 1 of the World Series -- the highest M18-24 ratings for SOUTH PARK since the epic second season in 1998.
Comedy Central Home Ent. and Paramount Home Ent. previously released the standard definition version of SOUTH PARK'S IMAGINATIONLAND on March 11, 2008 as a feature-length, completely uncensored DVD movie with all-new material added, storyboards from the making of the trilogy and with audio commentary from the co-creators and executive producers, Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Additional bonus material included fan favorite episodes "Woodland Critter Christmas" and "Manbearpig."
