Netflix Drops ‘Terminator Zero’ Red Band Trailer

At ANIME NYC streamer teases August 29 release starring Sonoya Mizuno as Eiko, the resistance fighter sent back in time to stop Skynet’s impending attack on humanity; also revealed ‘Sakamoto Days’ and ‘Leviathan’ anime coming in 2025.

At ANIME NYC this past weekend, Netflix released a red band trailer for its upcoming anime installment in the Terminator franchise, Terminator Zero. The series stars Sonoya Mizuno as Eiko the resistance fighter; Rosario Dawson as Kokoro, an advanced AI; André Holland as computer genius Malcom Lee; Ann Dowd as the philosophical guide the Prophet, and Timothy Olyphant as the Terminator.

The eight-episode series streams August 29 on Netflix.

The project is produced and animated in partnership with Production I.G (Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045, B: The Beginning). Skydance executive produces the show that is part of the Terminator universe but centers on new characters.

The series follows a soldier, caught between the future and the past, after being sent back in time to change the fate of humanity. She arrives in 1997 to protect a scientist named Malcolm Lee who’s working to launch a new AI system designed to compete with Skynet’s impending attack on humanity. As Malcolm navigates the moral complexities of his creation, he is hunted by an unrelenting assassin from the future which forever alters the fate of his three children.

Mattson Tomlin (Project Power, The Batman) serves as writer, showrunner, and executive producer, while Masashi Kudo directs. David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger executive produce for Skydance.

Coming in January 2025, the new anime series, Sakamoto Days follows legendary ex-hitman Taro Sakamoto as he bands with comrades to face off against the looming thread of assassins to ensure a peaceful life with his beloved family. The long-awaited anime adaptation of Sakamoto Days will be coming to Netflix globally in January 2025.

Coming to Netflix in 2025, the Leviathan anime series is based on “Leviathan” by Scott Westerfeld, Illustrated by Keith Thompson. The series, set in 1914, on the eve of war, tells the story of a fugitive prince and a girl in disguise who meet aboard a bioengineered airship, the HMS Leviathan, and change the course of history.
