Netflix Shares First Video of ‘One Piece’ Cast

In celebration of Monkey D. Luffy’s birthday, the cast of the upcoming live-action adaptation of the hugely popular manga come together for the first time in video, with the series to stream sometime in 2023.

One Piece character Monkey D. Luffy's birthday recently passed on May 5. To celebrate, Netflix took to Twitter to share the first ever video of the cast from the upcoming live-action adaptation, who teach viewers the correct pronunciation of ‘Luffy.’

The long-awaited live-action series One Piece is based on the hugely popular manga of the same name created by Eiichiro Oda. The series stars Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy; Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro; Emily Rudd as Nami; Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp; and Taz Skylar as Sanji.

The previously announced cast includes McKinley Belcher III; Morgan Davies; Aidan Scott; Vincent Regan; Jeff Ward; Craig Fairbrass; Langley Kirkwood; Celeste Loots; Alexander Maniatis; Ilia Isorelýs Paulino; Chioma Umeala; and Steven Ward.

Shueisha, Tomorrow Studios, and Netflix serve as production partners. Matt Owens and Steve Maeda serves as writers, executive producers, and showrunners. Oda, Marty Adelstein, and Becky Clements also executive produce. No word yet on who's handling the VFX.

One Piece, the anime series, is now streaming on Netflix. The live-action series is set to stream sometime this year.
