If you’re in New York tonight, head over to the Brooklyn Academy of Music for Treasures, a special presentation of recently restored silent screen gems from film preservationist and former Annecy director Serge Bromberg.

Bromberg returns to BAM with this special program of films from Mutual Company, where Charles Chaplin spent the happiest years of his career, and Essanay Film Manufacturing Company, where Max Linder made his American debut. The event marks the American premiere of the restoration of two Charlie Chaplin shorts by Cineteca di Bologna and Lobster Films, Easy Street and The Pawnshop. Also on deck is an ultra-rare Max Linder short, Max in a Taxi, preserved by the Narodni Filmovi Archiv in Prague.

Accompanist, historian and showman extraordinaire, Bromberg will guide audiences through these silent comedic gems along with a few big surprises!
