Sony Pictures has picked up a pitch from screenwriter Sheldon Turner to adapt Sucker Punch videogame inFAMOUS into a feature film, per THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.
The deal, in the seven figures, is still being process with Sony's sister company Sony Computer Ent., which publishes the game. Avi Arad and Ari Arad will produce. Sony execs Matt Tolmach and Jonathan Kadin are overseeing for the studio.
inFAMOUS is about a bike messenger, Cole McGrath, who survives an explosion and is left with new electricity-derived super powers. The game, for PlayStation 3, allows the player to use his powers for good or evil, as the McGrath's karma affects how the devastated city's people and infrastructure deal with him.
A prequel comic and soundtrack for the game have also been released since the game's debut in May. Turner is also working on a comic called WARRIOR, to be published by Top Cow.
"What excited me most about the game was it was the first of which I've come across that had a big idea and a character arc," Turner said. "It is, I believe, the future of gaming. The game, while big and fun, is at its core a love ballad to the underachiever, which is what our hero, Cole McGrath, is."
Avi Arad produced and Ari Arad exec produced THE INCREDIBLE HULK and IRON MAN and are producing an adaptation of Sony's videogame UNCHARTED: DRAKE'S FORTUNE with Charles Roven and Alex Gartner at Sony.
