Zodiak Appoints New French Licensing Agent for 'LoliRock'

Zodiak Kids announces FranceTV as the new licensing agent for the new animated series LoliRock in France and French-speaking territories.

Zodiak Kids has appointed FranceTV distribution to manage the licensing rights in France and French-speaking territories of its new animated series LoliRock (52x26’), a Marathon Media (a Zodiak Kids company), France Télévisions and Disney Channel co-production. Aimed at 5-10 year-old girls, the series will launch end of 2014 on France 3.

LoliRock follows the journey of young Iris, a spirited teenage girl with a beautiful voice and an unending desire to help others. When Iris joins the girl band LoliRock, her life is changed forever, as a new world of music, mystery and magical powers is revealed.

The first partners of the LoliRock property, launched last October at BLE, include Hachette Jeunesse for a wide collection of novels, activity books, e-books, fancy stationery and novelty stationery; as well as FranceTV distribution for home video.

The music in LoliRock will feature heavily in the series and provide a key element to Zodiak Kids’ 360-degree digital strategy and multi-screen approach.  As part of a unique marketing plan, five animated LoliRock videos will be launched on social media & YouTube before the debut of the TV show. The marketing plan also includes a blog and a free app with songs, dance routines and karaoke related to the series. A live show, produced by francetv distribution, may extend the plan.

Patricia de Wilde, Head of Zodiak Kids CP Paris, commented “We are delighted to work with such a key partner as francetv distribution. We are confident that with their expertise and enthusiasm, LoliRock will quickly become the new essential girl property.”

Yann Chapellon, CEO FranceTV distribution adds “The addition of LoliRock to FranceTV distribution’s catalogue fits perfectly with our 360° strategy and marks our ambition to support the rights holders with effective cross-media operations. We are very optimistic about the success of Marathon Media’s series, which is a perfect combination of creativity and production value.”

All licensing rights are managed by Zodiak Kids CP Paris while TV rights are handled by Zodiak Kids.
