Japan’s ‘Track’ by Tochka, Kazue Monno and Takeshi Nagata, wins the Grand Prix award in the non-narrative short category; ‘Cafard,’ directed by Jan Bultheel, is awarded the Grand Prix for feature animation; Nina Gantz wins the Grand Prix award in the student film category for ‘Edmond.’
Deadline for submissions is Friday, June 17; previous recipients include ‘The Bigger Picture’ director Daisy Jacobs, ‘Edmond’ director of photography Ian Forbes, and ‘Manoman’ director of photography Steven Ferguson.
Opening night selections include ‘Edmond,’ from Dutch director Nina Gantz, ‘Before Love’ by Russia’s Igor Kovalyov, ‘Ticking Away’ by Michael Sewnarain, ‘Six Portraits of Clara Schumann’ by the U.K.’s Stuart Pound, ‘Mirror’ by Chris Ware, ‘Chez Moi’ by France’s Phuong Mai Nguyen, ‘Little Girl’ by Steven Subotnick, ‘Velodrool’ by Estonia’s Sander Joon, and ‘If I Was God’ by Canada’s Cordell Barker.
The award for Special Visual Effects went to ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens,’ while the BAFTA for Animated Film went to ‘Inside Out,’ and the BAFTA for British Short Animation was presented to ‘Edmond.’
Short Film Jury Award in Animation goes to the U.K.’s ‘Edmond’ from director Nina Gantz; U.S. Documentary Special Jury Award for Editing is given to Penny Lane and Thom Stylinski for animated documentary ‘NUTS!’
Twelve animated shorts are selected to screen in competition, including ‘Bob Dylan Hates Me,’ ‘A Coat Made Dark,’ ‘Deer Flower,’ ‘Edmond,’ ‘Glove,’ ‘The Grandfather Drum,’ ‘The Itching,’ ‘Life Smartphone,’ ‘Limbo Limbo Travel,’ ‘Pombo Loves You,’ Shiny’ and ‘Waves '98.’
‘Guida,’ ‘Edmond,’ ‘Kung Fu Badger’ and ‘Manoman’ scoop awards at the Manchester Animation Festival.
Nina Gantz’s ‘Edmond’ wins the NextGen Skills Academy Best of British Award, and ‘I Got This’ by Tom Gran & Madeline Grossi receives the 2015 Anijam Award.
