The 30th annual Aspen Filmfest will run September 24-September 28, 2008 in Aspen and Carbondale, Colorado. Award-winning features and documentaries from around the world will be showcased at the Wheeler Opera House and Isis Theatre in Aspen and the Crystal Theatre in Carbondale during five days of unforgettable films during the height of the Rocky Mountain fall season.

The Los Angeles International Children's Film Festival is in September-October 2008. We produce an annual festival of more than 100 short films (animation, live action and documentaries) from around the world made for children and teens, plus animation and filmmaking workshops, at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and other L.A. venues. Cascade ACM SIGGRAPH, Oregon and Southwest Washington's local SIGGRAPH chapter, today announced that renowned visual consultant Bruce Block will address the Portland community regarding his unique aesthetic theories behind visual structure and style. His lecture, based on his book, THE VISUAL STORY, will showcase intriguing visual examples of how these theories may be used within the direct planning and production of new projects, bridging the gap between theory and practice. The event will take place at the University of Oregon Portland Programs Center on Wednesday, September 10 at 6 p.m.

The EPX Stories competition invites filmmakers from near and far to produce finished short movies in just a few weeks. Whether novice or expert we invite you to recruit a team and join the fun. EPX Stories is calling for filmmakers and wanna-be filmmakers to jump in and help us celebrate our neighborhood. Your short film should highlight the East Passyunk Crossing neighborhood; its history and its history-in –the-making, its landmarks and its new hot spots, its people and its happenings.

The Telluride Film Festival is one of the premiere independent film festivals in the U.S. The event is open to professional and nonprofessional filmmakers working in all aesthetic disciplines; documentary, narrative, animation, experimental, etc. Features and shorts, of all styles and lengths are eligible for consideration, provided that they are new works and will remain unseen by the public until the event. PERPETUUM MOBILE will show at the Laemmle Sunset 5 in Hollywood from August 29-31. The film is about howan alchemist obsessed with discovering the secrets of the Perpetual Motion will change the life of Leo, a sensitive and curious young Italian boy, forever. (www.laemmle.com).

Now in its 14th year, the festival will show 317 films, selected from a record of more than 2,700 worldwide entries. ShortFest will showcase 53 world premieres, 47 North American premieres and 24 U.S. premieres.

The Fifth Annual Atlanta Underground Film Festival (AUFF) will take place August 20 - 24, 2008 in Atlanta, Georgia. The 2008 AUFF will showcase every genre of independent film from across the world during this celebration of the independent artist.

AUFF is a forum where artists can thrive outside the mainstream arena. Creative artists who continuously break the boundaries of film, video, art and music are promoted through AUFF, so they too may have a voice in a market which is typically saturated with commercial entertainment designed to satisfy the audience's expectations.
