Prime Video has set Moira Walley-Beckett (Anne With an E, Breaking Bad) as showrunner for its upcoming series adaptation of Fourth Wing, according to Variety. Based on ‘The Empyrean’ novel series by Rebecca Yarros, the first installment Fourth Wing follows Violet Sorrengail, an unassuming girl who is thrust into training as a dragon rider. No plot or casting details have been released.
The five-part book series continues with second installment Iron Flame, to which Amazon has also secured the rights. The third book, Onyx Storm, releases January 2025.
Amazon MGM Studios and Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society produce. Jordan and Outlier president Elizabeth Raposo executive produce, alongside Walley-Beckett, Yarros, and Liz Pelletier (head of “Fourth Wing” publisher Entangled Publishing). Outlier Society exec Stefano Agosto co-executive produces.
