Melissa Rivers, host of TV Guide Channel's event programming, will emcee the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundations 27th Annual College Television Awards at 7:00 pm on March 19, 2006, at the invitation-only College Television Awards Gala at the Culver Studios. The winning entries will be showcased at the annual College Television Awards Festival on March 20 at 7:30 pm at the Television Academys Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre in North Hollywood, which is open to the public.
The College Television Awards Competition recognizes excellence in college student film/video productions. At the black-tie awards gala, student filmmakers are mentored with industry leaders that attend the invitation-only ceremony. Students compete for cash and filmmaking prizes in traditional and computer animation categories.

First place-winning entries from the previous night will be screened along with montages of the second and third place films at the Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre (5230 Lankershim Blvd, North Hollywood). The College Television Awards is one of several ongoing programs supported by the ATAS Foundation. It also offers a student internship program for work in 2D and 3D animation and visual effects. The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation and The Princeton Review have teamed up to develop a comprehensive resource guide for students choosing college/grad school and considering television and film careers. The book, GUIDE TO TELEVISION AND FILM PROGRAMS, will be published by Random House in August 2006. It will include profiles of more than 300 television, film and digital media programs at colleges and universities, plus advice from industry professionals. Chris Albrecht, ceo/chairman of HBO, has written the foreword.
