FUEL VFX Makes Toyota Camry's Every Bit Brilliant

Publicis Mojo's new campaign for the Toyota Camry in Australia is an unpretentious and inventive tale about finding inspiration and the connectivity of ideas.

The :60 spot features earnest young engineers in lab coats carrying out experiments and exchanging ideas. Above their heads, represented by abstract 3D "widgets," are their ideas and contribution to the whole. We follow the journey of a team member struggling to find his own widget.

Entertainment One has acquired three television content suppliers: Blueprint Ent., Barna-Alper Productions, Maximum Films and Oasis International.

As a result, Blueprint is now part of a public company trading on the AIM exchange in the U.K. and operating as a fully integrated film and television production and distribution company with offices in Toronto, Los Angeles, Montreal, New York, London, Holland and Belgium.

IMAX Gets Financing Deals For Digital Rollout

IMAX Corporation has entered into two significant financing transactions, one with Wachovia Capital Finance Corporation and one with the Douglas family, IMAX's largest shareholder.

The deal with Wachovia will be to increase future availability and modify other terms under the company's existing credit facility

The deal with the Douglas family is for the sale of approximately 2.73 million common shares in a private placement at an aggregate purchase price of $18 million.

Disney And CTC Media Conclude Licensing Deal

CTC Media, Russia's leading independent media company, has concluded a major, multi-year licensing agreement with The Walt Disney Company's international TV licensing arm, Disney-ABC International Television.

This agreement covers the licensing of features, live action series, animated series and made-for-TV movies for the CTC television network. The CTC Network -- the flagship of CTC Media -- is the fourth-most watched broadcaster in Russia with an average audience share of 11.3% in its wide target demographic (everyone aged 6-54) in 2007.

CSI: NY Virtual World Killer Wrapped Up By Electric Sheep

CBS drama CSI: NY and the Electric Sheep Company partnered to wrap up the Virtual World killer plot line in recent episode "DOA for a Day."

The first part of the episode titled, "Down The Rabbit Hole" originally aired, Wednesday, October 24.

In "DOA for a Day" the CSI's, working with an anonymous tip, travel to an abandoned warehouse and back into the virtual 3D computer world where they hope to find one of the city's most-wanted criminals.

Post-production boutique Liquid 9 has completed a complete redesign and upgrade of its studio in conjunction with a restructuring and a new owner: Chris O'Connor.

The upgrade includes additional space, giving the facility 3,000 sq. ft. of new and improved creative quarters with a fresh new look. The announcement was made by Steve Oakes, one of Curious Pictures' founding partners and a top director of TV spots, branded content and programs at the shop.

Venerable French film company Gaumont has bought top animation producer Alphanim, with details of the deal expected to be announced next week, reports C21 MEDIA.

Alphanim founder and CEO Christian Davin said that the partnership would allow his company "to establish synergies with Gaumont, for instance, in the theatrical business, in producing more animated feature films" and to expand into producing multi-platform content, as well as enhancing its licensing and distribution activities.

Percept Plans Expansion on Eve of Hunuman Premiere

Mumbai-based Percept Holdings, parent company of Percept Picture Company, has announced its intention to set up its own high-end animation studio, reports ANIMATION XPRESS. CEO Preet Bedi said that the company's focus will be on "building in knowledge, ability and experience into the set up." He predicted that the new studio will begin operations by the end of next year. Funding for the project will come from recent stakes acquired by Future Group (12.5%) and Morgan Stanley (10%) in the company.

Digital Domain has filed an initial public offering that could earn the visual effects company $100 million. In its filing, the company stated the money earned would go to "expanding our technology development and licensing program and attempting to enter into the production of animated and visual effects-driven feature films and the development and production of video games."

Troll Company Countersues in Ongoing Dispute

Troll Company, the Danish owner of the rights to the iconic Good Luck Troll doll, has filed a $20 million lawsuit against brand management company DIC Ent. In a lawsuit filed today in Los Angeles Superior Court, Troll Company charged that DIC fraudulently obtained licensing rights to the Troll by hiding its true financial condition and then conducted such a disastrously underfunded roll-out that the Troll was transformed from a "multi-billion dollar renowned property" into one that was unmarketable.
