BabyFirst Launches In-House Production Unit

BabyFirst has formed BFTV Productions, an in-house unit established to produce original television programming expressly for the preschool market.

Now reaching 100 million home worldwide, BabyFirst is a commercial-free 24/7 channel designed for babies and toddlers and their parents. Arik Kerman, SVP of Programming for BabyFirst and the executive responsible the channel's programming, will serve as General Manager of BFTV Productions. Programming produced by BFTV Productions will be offered to preschool broadcasters worldwide.

CP Productions, Ghostrider To Partner On Horror Films

CP Productions and Mississippi-based Ghostrider Ent. will co-finance a slate of 10 horror films over the next three years, per VARIETY.

CP Prods. Principals Michael Cerenzie and Christine Peters have started a genre division for the films, which are expected to be budgeted at between $8 and $20 million.

Eric Thompson, who most recently ran Maverick Films' genre label Maverick Reds, will head the new division. He came to CP when he signed his Doomsday Twins Productions label to a first-look deal with CP.

International Duplication Centre , a New York City-based digital post-production and new media facility, has acquired Phoenix Productions.

A new fully integrated production, creative motion branding and post-production division, Air Station, will be headed by Chris Phoenix.

Phoenix Productions has specialized in consulting for magazine publishing companies expanding their brands to the web through video and rich media programming and advertising.

Increased Tax Credits To Help Ontario Production

Beginning next month, major production centers including Toronto and Ottawa will benefit from an additional C$10 million (US$9.8 million) in tax credits, reports C21 MEDIA. The Ontario Film & Television Tax Credit for domestic productions will increase from 30 % to 35%, while the Ontario Production Services Tax Credit for foreign productions made in the province will increase from 18% to 25%. The action will support the more than 30,000 people who work directly in the entertainment industry in Ontario.

Cary Silver Upped to Production VP at Mike Young Prods.

Cary Silver has been promoted to vp of production at Mike Young Productions (MYP), one of the largest animation studios in North America. He will continue in his role as producer on hit shows such as PET ALIEN and JAKERS! THE ADVENTURES OF PIGGLEY WINKS, among others. Additionally, he will work alongside and report to MYP/Taffy principals Mike Young, Bill Schultz and Liz Young about in-house productions as well as the continued development of international co-productions.

The 5th edition of Animadrid was organized with the purpose of fostering the film and audiovisual arts by promoting independent animation productions and providing an assembly point for artists and audiences in the international community. Animadrid has two competitive sections: a short films selection and the Iberoamerican Competition for television TV series pilot. In the short film category, independent films less than 60 minutes in length and created using any animation technique are eligible for entry.

Cyper Ent Consolidates Name, Splits Stock, Adds Ani Vet & Partner

Dae Joong Kim, a veteran animation director for 36 years, has joined Cyper Entertainment Inc., subsidiary of JRE Inc., based in Seoul, Korea. Considered one of the top OEM animation directors in Korea, he has worked on many different animated TV shows such as SUPER MARIO, FUTURE BOY CONAN, CAPTAIN HARLOCK, GALAXY EXPRESS 999 AND NADIA, among others.

"Mr. Kim is a valued addition to our team as we prepare for several large film and television productions. We are excited to have him in our service," said Duk Jim Jang, president of JRE.

Elephant Productions And Ficticious Egg To Launch New Animation Studio

Elephant Productions, the UK-based media company behind such series as GRIZZLY TALES FOR GRUESOME KIDS and JOHNNY CASANOVA THE UNSTOPPABLE SEX MACHINE, is to join forces with animation company Fictitious Egg to launch a new studio, Elephant Egg. Daz Productions Offers Lip Syncing Tool Mimic At 75% Savings

Utah-based DAZ Productions, a company that specializes in providing 3D models for the animation tool Poser, has acquired lip sync software Mimic from LIPSinc. DAZ Productions sees the acquisition as a chance to help bring a powerful animation tool to more of the general public with a more competitive price point.
