The winning entries will be showcased at the annual College Television Awards Festival on March 20 at 7:30 pm at the Television Academys Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre in North Hollywood, which is open to the public.

Toon Boom Animation announced that Algonquin College has chosen Toon Boom Harmony as part of its three-year Animation program. Algonquins program provides students with training in both traditional and digital animation. Following a first year of studies, students have the option of pursuing either traditional or digital animation. They learn the skills necessary to work effectively as animators in a variety of settings. Graduates acquire the skills necessary to work independently, collaboratively and in studio settings.

Mercy College, a private liberal arts college located in New York, will begin offering its Animation program in Manhattan at the Roy Disney Animation + Drawing Studios beginning September 2005.
Bryan Cranston, star of the FOX series MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE, will emcee the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundations 26th Annual College Television Awards at 7:00 pm on March 13, 2005, at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel. The winning entries will be showcased at the annual College Television Awards Festival, hosted by Martin Bruestle, producer, THE SOPRANOS, on Monday, March 14 at 7:00 pm at the Television Academys Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre, which is open to the public.
Animation historian/journalist Harvey Deneroff has joined The Savannah College of Art and Design School of Film and Digital Media as one of three new professors beginning winter quarter 2005.
Deneroff, recently moved from London to Atlanta, joins the college as a part-time professor of animation. The former ANIMATION MAGAZINE and ANIMATION WORLD MAGAZINE editor has a Ph.D. in communication-cinema and a M.A. degree in cinema from USC.
Mt. Sierra College, a leading media arts and design, business and technology college in the San Gabriel Valley, California has been selected to participate in the Howard Schaefer Pasadena Angels BTC Business Competition along with nine other Southern California colleges and universities. The competition, co-sponsored by the Business Technology Center of Los Angeles (BTC) and the Pasadena Angels, challenges teams of Southland students to develop a business plan, feasibility study or marketing plan to raise funds for an early-stage technology company.
The National College of Arts (NCA) has launched six-month courses in animation and video production in collaboration with French art institution Ecole-d Art. TV producer Shaukat Zainul Abidin, writer Asghar Nadeem Syed, former Ptv Lahore general manager SM Anwar and UN goodwill ambassador Faryal Gauhar will serve as the faculty members. The college will also get assistance from the Ministry of Information and Technology and Telecom Division to run the courses.
The College of the Canyons Student Animation Festival will feature short animated films and exercises produced by COC students during the past year. The work will include drawn animation as well as 2D and 3D computer animation.
The screening will take place at 6:00pm in room M-318 on the College of the Canyons Campus: 26455 Rockwell Canyons Road, Santa Clarita, CA 91355.

Cal Art students swept the traditional animation category at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation's 25th Annual College Television Awards Competition. Cal Arts' David Derrick, ByoungJik Lee and Chris Choy took first, second and third respectively for their toon work. Ringling School of Art & Design students did well in the non-traditional animation category taking second and third with first place going to Craig Van Dyke of Brigham Young.
Robert F. Enrietto, Jr., former production manager, assistant director, producer and, most recently, administrator of Columbia College Chicagos Semester in L.A. program, died of a heart attack during the holiday break (Dec. 27, 2003) while vacationing in Chicago. He was 62.
Patricia Beckmann, chair of the animation department at Savannah College of Art and Design, has been named Education Chair for SIGGRAPH 2005. In addition, Matthew Munn, a second-year graduate student in animation from Calymont, Delaware, won the 10 Second Club monthly Character Animation Competition for the month of November 2003. This online international competition posts a 10-sec sound clip at the beginning of each month.
Mike and Andy Parker will be premiering the first episode of the second season of their Webtoon COLLEGE UNIVERSITY, which will guest star pro-wrestling legend Macho Man Randy Savage. The pop culture spoof follows the misadventures of two college friends attending College University, the first university to allow the attendance of humans and primates. The series is animated solely by Mike Parker using Flash and MX.

Detroit, Michigan's College for Creative Studies (CCS) Animation and Digital Media department will welcome a group of industry experts in 2002. Lanfranco Aceti, Thom Gillespie and Bill Tomlinson will be guest speakers at a series of presentations hosted by the college. Lanfranco Aceti is a digital artist and a Ph.D. researcher in fine art at Central Saint Martins in London. He has been focusing on the cross-platform media as expression of the contemporary avant-garde. Aceti will be giving an open presentation on November 25, 2002 from 5:00 7:00 pm.
Ontario, Canadas Sheridan College is now offering Writing for Animation through the Program for Continuing Education. The object of this course is to teach the principles of animation writing for short films (both commercial and personal), television series and feature films. Through lectures and guest speakers, group discussions and one-on-one critiques, students will explore such principles as writing for movement, creating believable animated characters -- human, animal and object -- and building a consistent world.
